The Cup Guide
One Ritual, Three Cups
What each shape is actually built for, and how to keep it at its best.
The Coffee Cup
Kunanyi
A wider bowl and a generous 300mL pour, built for a proper flat white or long black at the kitchen table. Named for the mountain that watches over Hobart.
Best for
The Espresso Cup
Teralina
Small, rounded and sized for a proper shot rather than a mug pretending to be one. Inspired by the dramatic coastline of Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania.
Best for
The Tea Cup
Kanku
A 165mL rounded cup with room to let tea breathe, inspired by the ochre hills of the Kanku–Breakaways in South Australia.

Ceramic Cups FAQ
The real questions people ask before buying handmade ceramics.
Still stuck?
We reply within 24 hours — info@maltandbrew.com
Are ceramic mugs actually better than glass or plastic?
For hot drinks, yes. Ceramic holds heat more evenly than glass and won't leach anything into your coffee the way some plastics can over time. It's also non-porous once glazed, so it doesn't hold onto old flavours the way some materials do.
Are ceramic cups safe for coffee and tea?
Yes. Our cups are made with food-safe, lead-free glazes and fired at a high enough temperature to be fully vitrified — safe for hot drinks, the dishwasher and the microwave.
Do the cup sets come with saucers?
No — each set is four cups only. We kept them saucer-free so they stack easily and don't take up extra cupboard space.
Why is each set named after a place?
Every glaze is inspired by a real Australian landscape — Kunanyi (Hobart's Mt Wellington), Karijini (the gorge country of WA) and Kanku (the ochre Breakaways of South Australia) among them. It's our way of bringing a bit of the country into your kitchen.
